Between the 16th and 19th of July 2020, the Coromandel Peninsula experienced extreme weather conditions. When the wild weather caused the roads to become hazardous, Safe Road Services stepped in with professional traffic management services to keep road users safe as they navigated the hazardous roads. The storms caused slips and flooding, which blocked off main State Highway Routes to Whangamata, Tairua, Pauanui, and other surrounding towns, resulting in the need for temporary traffic management to be put in place.
Safe Road Services teams worked tirelessly 24/7 over the entire weekend to implement road traffic control that enforced road closures and directed the public safely away from these hazardous areas.
Over this time, we had 30 staff from both Kopu and Hamilton branches responding without hesitation to ensure these sites were upheld and the public was not put at further risk. We are proud of our team for being so responsive and putting their own plans aside to help out through this horrible weather, with not a single staff member refusing to work when called up.
