Between the 16th and 19th of July, the Coromandel Peninsula experienced some extreme weather conditions causing slips and flooding which blocked off main State Highway Routes to Whangamata, Tairua, Pauanui and other surrounding towns. Safe Road Services teams worked tirelessly 24/7 over the entire weekend to close roads and direct the public safely away from these hazardous areas. Over this time, we had 30 staff from both Kopu and Hamilton Branches responding without hesitation to ensure these sites were upheld and the public was not put at further risk. We are proud of our team for being so responsive and putting their own plans aside to help out through this horrible weather, with not a staff member refusing to work when called up.
